Ultrasound guided hydrodissection is a new technique to treat entrapped nerves. Nerve entrapment is a common but often missed source of pain. Nerves are supposed to glide smoothly within their surrounding tissue, but sometimes scar tissue or adhesions can develop, irritating the nerve. Nerves can also be compressed by trauma, surgery, and overuse injuries. Symptoms may include pain, numbness, or even weakness. Under ultrasound guidance Dr. Martin identified the affected nerve, guides a needle right next to the nerve, and gentle injects fluid around the nerve to free it from the trapped surrounding tissue.

Hydrodissection can be used for many nerve entrapments, including carpal tunnel syndrome, where hydrodissection demonstrated better function and even better EMG findings compared to an unguided steroid injection
